I know how to leave my family and friends. I know how to sell my house. I know how to move schools in the middle of the year. I know how to make new friends. I know how to move across the country. In the fall of seventh grade my parents sat my siblings and I down for a family meeting. When my family has meeting that means something big is going to change. At this particular family meeting my parents told us that we were moving to California in one month. I was shocked when I heard the news, I had never expected this and I was going to miss all my amazing friends in Minnesota. On the other hand I was excited to be moving to California because I love the beach and have good friends that live in Irvine. I knew it was going to be a big change for the whole family and we would have to work together to make California our new home. As the moving day approached my house was turning into hundreds of boxes. I no longer could sleep in my bed because it was packed. Finally on the cold snowy day in December the moving truck came to pack everything into the truck and move it to California. A few days after the truck came we took the remaining clothes that we left out and began the 31 hour road trip to California. Finally after days of driving we made it to our new home in sunny Ventura, California. When I first looked at my new house and the thought of finally having my own room got me excited. I was nervous to go to a new school and have to make all new friends. When the boxes started coming to our house, they were everywhere! I could not walk three feet without running into a pile of boxes. We moved to California over winter break and I knew I would have to start my new school soon. On the first day of my new school I was scared of being the new kid who does not have any friends. This was not the case at Ventura Missionary School. Right when I walked into to school on my first day people we all over me and I made five new friends in the first 15 minutes. Making new friends was not as hard as I thought it would be. Moving across the country helped my family in many ways. First my dad got a good job at Ventura Missionary. We also supported each other through the challenge of starting new schools and got to show courage and bravery together as a family. I would not want to move across the country again but it was not hard to make Ventura, California my new home.
